Homeowners send us photos of things that concern them — a leak they can't trace, damage they don't understand, a repair they're not sure is worth it. We look it over and share what we see, publicly, so others can benefit too. No obligation. If the answer is "you need a contractor," we'll tell you exactly what that looks like — and if you want it to be us, we're ready. But the answer always comes first.
We're based in Erie County, PA — but we'll answer questions from anywhere. We can't do the work outside our service area, but a straight answer doesn't have a zip code.
How Ask a Contractor came to be
This page started with a question in my head. So many of my customers had problems in their homes, they didn't know what to do or what the next step could be — should this be taken care of now, can it wait? Almost all of them had one thing in common: who do you ask?
I'm new to the digital world. I avoided social media as long as I could — but I posted on Facebook, Nextdoor, and others asking the community whether a free contractor Q&A resource was something people would actually use. I got some mixed results. Mind you — I have no following. I'm brand new to this. I honestly didn't expect much. The post sat there for over a week.
Then Pauline found it. She didn't know what the page was going to be. She just knew she had a problem in her basement bathroom and wasn't sure what to do. She responded to the post and we told her the page wasn't ready yet — but if she wanted to email us the situation, we'd do our best to help. She did. We helped. That became the first entry. This is the page.
How it works

Tell us what you're seeing. Up to 3 photos — wide shot helps most. First name and city only. Questions from anywhere welcome.
Step 02 — We review it
Our team looks it over and shares an honest assessment. No pressure. If it needs professional attention we'll tell you what that looks like.
Step 03 — Answer gets posted
Your question gets added to the database — first name last initial, city, CBC's assessment — so others facing the same thing can benefit.
